The Department for International Development (DFID) is the UK Government’s institution that manages Britain's aid to low income countries and works to reduce extreme poverty worldwide.
In Latin America, DFID works closely with the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank to address these challenges. For further information on this relationship please consult http://www.dfid.gov.uk/default.asp
The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA), through the Darwin Initiative Fund, supports projects that protect bio-diversity around the world. The overarching challenge for DEFRA is to enable everyone to live within our environmental means. This is most clearly exemplified by the need to:
• Tackle climate change internationally and through domestic action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and
• Secure a healthy, resilient, productive and diverse natural environment.
