1. ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
The British Embassy invites applications for the above full-time position.
The successful candidate will be a British citizen or a citizen of Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States who has lived and worked in the UK for at least 6 months within the past 5 years. The successful candidate will need to complete UK government security clearance procedures before commencing employment (this may take up to 3 months). Likely start date would be March 2010.
The successful candidate will have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish. He/she will possess excellent IT skills and have at least 3 years work experience.
It is essential that he/she has good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills. He/she will need to have experience in budget management and be adept in using Microsoft Office. Previous experience in administrative work, or in a similar role at a diplomatic mission, would be highly advantageous. The successful candidate should also be willing to travel to other cities in Colombia for short-term work assignments.
The basic salary will range from COL$2,847,208 – COL$4,704,728 per month dependant on experience and qualifications.

2. ENTRY CLEARANCE OFFICER
The British Embassy invites applications for the above full-time position.

The successful candidate will need to complete UK government security clearance procedures before commencing employment (this may take up to 3 months). Likely start date would be February 2010
Duties and responsibilities:
- To process visa applications, establishing eligibility under the immigration rules
- To prepare explanatory statements, refusal notices and to respond to written enquiries from UK sponsors, solicitors, Home Office and other stakeholders
- Staff Management
The successful applicant will have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Spanish, good IT skills and at least 5 years work experience. It is essential that he/she has good interpersonal, organisational, communication and managerial skills. He/she will be a team player, customer focussed, fully aware of service delivery standards and treat everyone fairly and equally.
Previous experience in immigration/border control, or in a similar role at another diplomatic mission, would be highly advantageous, as would managerial experience.
The basic salary will be COL$4.930.000, on top of which the person will get COL$1.479.000 as the integral salary factor (equivalent to 30% of basic salary) for a total of COL$6.409.000.
